30 Days of Positive Attraction Day 3 – Mindfulness

Click here to jump straight to the Inspired Actions for today

Mindfulness isn’t exactly a Law of Attraction concept, I know. But it is an excellent way of both being aware and focusing. I was reminded of it by tbe book I’m currently reading, which had me giggling over my early-morning coffee in the sun today.

It was a great way to start the day because for some reason I woke up feeling a bit “down”, for no obvious reason. This 30 days is all about proving to myself that I and I alone am responsible for how I feel and that I can choose it, I’m not limited to simply reacting to circumstances outside my control.

So there I was sitting in my garden watching the sun sparkling on the Red Sea and I made the decision to deeply appreciate and savor the moment. I was chatting to my neighbour as she washed down her courtyard and as I raised my coffee mug to enjoy the aroma (I swear I love the smell of coffee even more than the taste), I was struck by how beautiful my mug is. My sister’s partner bought it for me, it’s a white Versace china mug with gold trim and it’s perfectly balanced, the handle is so comfortable to hold and coffee tastes even better when I drink it from this mug. I’ll take a pic of it tomorrow.

I picked up my book and the very next paragraph was about loving what you do:

“if you sell plastic toilet seats that play the theme of The Bridge Over the River Kwai when the customer sits down, you have to love that sound. As soon as you hear the whistling of the “Colonel Bogey March”, your whole aura has to glitter with awe and inspiration so that you’re wandering around the showroom like Tinkerbel. Otherwise, the seats become humdrum, and the selling of them becomes just a way of earning a living, the drabness of which will rot your brain.”

While I was giggling I was also thinking. Not about toilet seats but about how I tend to rush through the day on auto-pilot, not really aware of how I’m feeling or even what I’m doing. If I were more mindful about eating for example,  I’m sure I would eat less – instead of gulping stuff down while I read my emails, not even tasting what I’m putting in my mouth. If I were more mindful about what I really want, I wouldn’t automatically buy the next thing I see just because it would make me feel better temporarily, and guilty almost immediately afterwards. If I were more mindful about my words, I would stop and think before blurting out the first thing that comes to mind.

Today’s Inspired Actions

It might drive me nuts by the end of the day, but that”s my plan today. To savor everything I do, focus entirely on what’s in front of me, make more conscious decisions and do everything in the most perfect, loving way I can.
